Sister and brother are very hungry, but the field is dry and there is nothing to eat. When a red-breasted bird flies by with a potato flower in its beak, they decide to follow it in search of food. They don’t know that Achiqué, who is also hungry, has already smelled them and is going after them.

Picking up the Andean oral tradition of the Achiqué legend, Micaela tells a classic adventure story of two siblings who not only seek to escape from a terrifying being that intends to devour them, but from other much more real (and lethal) monsters: poverty and hunger.
